Dear Friends,
The High Holy Days are upon us. What a special time of year! All of the promise of making the coming year better than the last, inspires us to prepare diligently in a way that can make it a reality.
This year I am particularly excited to be sharing the Bima with Cantor Jalda from Berlin. With such a sweet voice and holy spirit, our services will help our souls find spiritual expression. We are blessed to be able to share these awesome days with her. Please help me in welcoming Cantor Jalda and her partner, Anna, to our Shir Tikvah family.
Robert and I would be honored if you joined us as we celebrate his Bar Mitzvah on Friday September 10 at 7:15 p.m. In addition, Robert and I would love to host you at our Sukkah on Friday September 24 at 7:00 p.m. Robert’s parents will be here from England the whole month. We hope you’ll come out to Lake Orion for an outdoor evening of song, prayer and good company.
I am still reveling in the afterglow of SOS. Hosting our guests from the South Oakland Shelter was a great experience. We treated them with dignity and respect. We created a homey environment, served sumptuous food, and opened our doors to them in a gracious way. Thank you to our more than 100 volunteers logging more than 1,000 hours to welcome our guests appropriately. I couldn’t be more proud of the congregation I serve!
L’shana Tova Tikateyvu,
