Dear Friends,
I am writing from Scotland in the last week of my travels here. Robert helped found a mountaineering group during his college days. More than 20 years later, they meet every month in various locations to pursue their sport, but in the process they have become one another’s closest circle of friends. Over the years, others have joined the group, including spouses and many, many children. We just spent the week over New Year’s with them in North Scotland.
This experience made me think about the friendships that have been formed through Shir Tikvah. For so many of us, when we think of our circle of loved ones, many are other members of our congregation. How wonderful! One of the missions of any shul is to be a holy community, dedicated to one another’s well being, sharing generously in the happy and sad times of life.
It is for this reason that Robert and I wish to invite the entire membership of Shir Tikvah, each of you, to our home for our commitment ceremony September 3 in the afternoon. There will be details to follow, but we hoped you would save the date and support us with your presence as we take this important step forward in our relationship.
