The Judaica Shop

Sisterhood's year-round fundraiser

Hard to believe since we just finished our very successful “Chanukah Spree” but Passover is coming early this year.  Look for the Gift Shop’s show and sale of Passover necessities on Sunday, March 14 and Sunday, March 21.  We will also be featuring a book sale along with the Passover sale.  And, of course, continue to check the Gift Shop display for new items for yourself and gifts.

Catalogues are available in the office for shopping. Orders can be placed at cstsisterhood@yahoo.com.

Health Expo

After much preparation on our parts as well as by our partners at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, our first-ever Women’s Health Expo took place on February 4.  Everyone who attended agreed that it was a wonderful, informative evening.  Unfortunately, the turnout fell far below our expectations.  It is a shame that more people were not able to take advantage of such an exciting event.   I would love to hear some feedback regarding future programs of this type.  It was definitely something we would like to try again, but we need to work on getting more people to participate.  I welcome your input, whether you were able to attend the Expo or not.
Thank you so much to all of the Sisterhood volunteers who made the event possible:  Elena Bose, Gloria Chadwick, Sarah Chisholm, Jo Coskey, Michael Bernstein, Joan Firestone, Elwin Greenwald, Joe and Sandy Gruca, Barb Hertz, Carrie Keough, Reva Klar, Penny Kinzer, Michelle Kleiman, Sue Korn, Grace Laverdiere, JoAnne Levy, Jamye Meyer, Erica Peresman, Heidi Press, Karen Sage, Gail Said, Don Schenk, Audrey Shapero, Harriett Silverman, Michelle Simpson, Phyllis Wenig, Ruth Zendel.  All of the leftover baked goods were used for the Schmooze Cruise, so if you baked for the Expo your goodies did double duty!!

I look forward to seeing you soon.  Until then, think Spring!!

B’Shalom,
-Patty

Sisterhood Shabbat, Friday, April 16

We have already begun planning our Sisterhood Shabbat service that will take place on April 16.  We are delighted that this year’s guest speaker will be Rabbi Dorit Edut!  Please email cstsisterhood@yahoo.com or call me at 248-593-8353 if you would like to participate.  We have English parts, Hebrew parts, and non-speaking parts.  We are also looking for help with the oneg.   This is always a meaningful and enjoyable evening that includes participation from many members.  I know that this year will be no different.

Shop for Passover Supplies and Jewish Books March 14 and 21

Plagues, frogs, Elijah’s cups and more will be on sale two consecutive Sundays during Family Ed.  We will also feature a wide selection of Jewish books for kids and adults.  Please stop by and support Sisterhood!!  We are also looking for a few volunteers to help staff the sale.  Please email cstsisterhood@yahoo.com if you can help.

Crafting for a Cause

Relax, Nibble, Heal the World, March 18
Please plan to join us on March 18 at 7:00 at CST for an evening of socializing and “Crafting for a Cause”.  Michael Phillips will be there to facilitate an Empty Bowls session and we will be making blankets for Project Night Night.  We will also be collecting blankets, stuffed animals, and books for PNN as well as travel-size toiletries for Neighborhood House.   And that’s not all!  Participants will have a chance to enter a raffle for a beautiful mosaic bowl.  Even if you’re not “crafty”, please come and hang out.  This will be our last “regular” Sisterhood meeting until the fall.  Please RSVP by March 15 so that we can plan for food and supplies.

Come Walk With Us!

Meet us for a walk on Tuesday mornings at 9:15 (note new time) inside Somerset Mall in front of California Pizza Kitchen (1st level, north side).  All ages and fitness levels are welcome.  Don’t pass up this wonderful opportunity to start the day – and the year - off right!

Have You Renewed Your Membership??
If so, thanks!  If not, it’s not too late.  A copy of the registration form is available for downloading.
