The Judaica Shop

Sisterhood's year-round fundraiser

Continue to check out the Gift Shop for new and unique items for yourself and for gifts.  Remember if you can’t find exactly what you like, check the catalogues for items that can be ordered.  Most orders will be received in 10 days or less. Your support of Sisterhood’s Gift Shops allows us to grant scholarships to our Temple youth for Jewish related learning opportunities.

Catalogues are available in the office for shopping. Orders can be placed at cstsisterhood@yahoo.com.

SISTERHOOD SPEAKS

Sisterhood hopes that everyone is experiencing a happy and healthy 2012. We have many exciting upcoming events on our calendar.

On February 17th Sisterhood plans to attend the DSO Coffee Concert at Orchestra Hall. A report will follow in our next newsletter. Let us know if this is an event you would like to continue as an annual event.

Annabelle Cohen will be with us for a fundraiser on March 1st to cook some of her special recipes.  Not only will she give recipes and demonstrations, but we will be able to enjoy samplings of her food.  The charge for this event is $18 and will go towards Sisterhood Projects.

In December, Sue Korn and Michelle Simpson attended the WRJ/URJ Assembly in Washington, D.C. This was an outstanding experience. We were able to meet many Sisterhood members from across the country. There was much sharing of programs and projects which have given us ideas for building our CST Sisterhood. Sue and Michelle will be putting together a report to share with our membership. One of the highlights of the Assembly was the presentation of President Obama.

In December, 2012, the Central District of WRJ will be meeting in the greater Detroit area. CST will have a major part to play in this event and we will be looking for membership help.

Don’t forget our Tikkun Olam Committee is sponsoring a Kindergarten class at the Sampson Academy located at 4700 Tireman in Detroit. The children need mittens and hats, socks, school supplies, coloring books, phonics books, picture books, snack foods and juice boxes. There is a box in the lobby of the Temple where you can leave your donations. You can also bring them to any Sisterhood meeting or contact Michelle Simpson with questions. On behalf of the students at Sampson Academy, thank you!

The Oneg Committee is always in need of volunteers to assist with setup, serving and cleanup of Bar/Bat  Mitzvah Onegs. Please contact Ruth Zendel or Jo Coskey if you can help.

Shalom,
Leslie
