Burial and Shiva

Shir Tikvah shares in your sorrow during the loss of a loved one.  At Shir Tikvah, we aim to make this difficult time a little bit easier.

Rabbi Alicia leads funeral services for members and non-members. For more information, please contact her directly (aura@shirtikvah.org or 248-649-4418 x 2).

Shir Tikvah offers "shiva leaders" to lead religious services during the shiva of a congregant or the relative of one of our members.

Should we experience the unfortunate loss of one of our congregants, our Caring Community provides a shiva tray of food for the immediate family after they return to the shiva house following the burial. Our Caring Community volunteers are on-site to set-up and take care of the details surrounding the meal, allowing there to be no distractions for the family.

If you are a Shir Tikvah member and you have experienced the loss of a loved one, please contact our Executive Director at info@shirtikvah.org or 248-649-4418 x 1 for a notice to be sent out to the congregation and the appropriate arrangements to be made.  Should it be after hours or over a holiday, please email info@shirtikvah.org.

Shir Tikvah partners with Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan to offer burial space for our congregation. We encourage you to pre-plan such arrangements for yourself and your family. For information about Oakview Cemetery rates, please contact our Executive Director at info@shirtikvah.org or 248-649-4418 x 1.
